We can prescribe a treatment for premature ejaculation in 30mg and 60mg doses. This is a product licensed in many European countries, but not yet licensed in the UK. This treatment is prescribed and delivered with an English Patient Information Leaflet. The tablet is taken approximately 30 minutes before planned sexual activity and is designed specifically to give men increased control over their ejaculation during sex.
Encountered by up to one third of the UK population, premature ejaculation is considered to be instances where men, on a regular basis, do not feel in control of reaching orgasm and routinely ejaculate or ‘come’ within less than a minute of penetration. Some men may even ejaculate before penetration can occur.
The impact of premature ejaculation on the confidence and well being of sufferers should not be underestimated – effective treatment gives thousands of men worldwide the chance to enjoy a healthy sex life.
Currently, there is only one prescription medication created for the sole purpose of treating premature ejaculation. Whilst doctors often suggest other medicines, behavioural techniques or psychological solutions, this medication is unrivalled in its effectiveness.
In case studies, seven out of ten men taking this treatment noticed improved sexual performance as a result. In terms of duration, a large number of men experienced sexual activity prolonged by a minimum of 100%, with some even enjoying an increase of around 300%.
By giving men the chance to continue sex for three times as long, this treatment helps not only to improve premature ejaculation, but also bolster confidence for a longer-term solution.
In order for a man to ejaculate, a reflex message must occur in the brain to instruct ejaculation to occur. This message must pass through many cells in order to trigger the correct reflex. Each of these nervous cells releases serotonin, which carries the message on to the next cell in the chain.
After the message to ejaculate has been delivered to the next cell, the serotonin that the cell has released is usually reabsorbed. However, in the case of men suffering from premature ejaculation, studies have shown that serotonin is reabsorbed before the message is successfully delivered. A large number of premature ejaculation patients show low serotonin levels in the brain.
Premature Ejaculation treatment is a Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI), which stops serotonin being reabsorbed too quickly and is related to antidepressants such as fluoxetine (Prozac). This improves the communication around the brain related to ejaculation and, as a result, gives men more control over the process of ejaculation. By exerting more control over the impulse, men can last longer in sexual activity.
This medication can be prescribed to any male between the ages of 18 and 65 who experiences routine premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation can be ejaculation before penetration or ejaculation within one minute of penetration, although doctors will suggest this medication to any patient with longevity of less than 2 minutes who feel that their sexual performance is having an adverse affect on their wellbeing.
This medication should not be taken by anybody under the age of 18 or over the age of 65. The drug is also not recommended to patients with a history of heart problems or those taking certain mental health treatments including Thioridazine, Linezolid, Lithium, Tryptophan, Tramadol or St John’s Wort.
This medication is available in two dosages – 30mg and 60mg. A doctor will usually prescribe the 30mg dose to start with, although this dosage can be increased if the initial dose does not improve the situation. The drug should be taken approximately one hour before planned sexual activity and will be effective for between two and three hours.
This medication can be taken with or without food, although if the tablet is taken with a heavy meal, it may take longer for the effects of the tablet to occur. In these instances, it would be advisable to take the dose longer before planned sexual activity.
This medication does not remain effective within the body for a prolonged period of time, meaning that should mild to moderate side effects occur, they are unlikely to persist. The reported side effects of this drug include irritability, nausea, headaches, insomnia and anxiousness, however these side effects only occur in 1-10% of men taking the tablet. If you experience any or all of the side effects this medication may cause and they persist, contact your doctor.
