Levitra

Levitra –Erectile Dysfunction Treatment Effective In Lower Doses

Levitra is a tablet available in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg doses to treat men who are experiencing erectile dysfunction or impotence. Since it is effective in lower doses when compared to alternative drugs, Levitra is commonly prescribed for men over the age of 50 or those with other health conditions including high or low blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes.

Whilst a large number of men suffer from erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives, the severity of the problem can vary. Whist some men may be unable to achieve an erection at all, others may simply have difficulty in sustaining an erection long enough for sexual activity. Many men worldwide enjoy their renewed sexual confidence, attaining and maintaining an erection thanks to Levitra.

Levitra Benefits

Case studies have shown that, in the majority of cases, men have been more able to attain an erection after taking Levitra and also able to sustain this erection for the full duration of sexual activity. The medicine has also proven to be more successful in the case of men who have not achieved desired results when using alternative drugs such as Viagra.

Distinctively, this treatment is successful in much lower doses than competing erectile dysfunction medicine and, as a result, there is less risk of adverse side effects. Despite this lower dosage, some men using the tablet could be ready for sexual activity within 15 to 30 minutes.

Does Levitra Work To Achieve An Erection?

The process of male arousal is a complex one, involving the release of different substances within the body. When a male becomes aroused, the body begins to release Cyclic GMP, a substance which moves through the blood and causes the blood vessels in the penis to dilate. As a result, more blood enters the penis and an erection occurs. Then, an enzyme called Phosphodiesterase Type 5 (PDE-5) comes into effect, breaking down the levels of Cyclic GMP so that they can be removed from the body. This causes the blood vessels in the penis to return to their normal size, and the penis to return to a soft, flaccid state.

Erectile dysfunction or impotence occurs when PDE-5 acts on Cyclic GMP too quickly. This can mean that the penis does not become erect, or that the penis does not remain erect for the required period of time.
Levitra uses an active ingredient called vardenafil, which stops PDE-5 from acting too quickly. This ensures that Cyclic GMP is only removed from the blood stream after there has been enough time to achieve an erection and engage in sexual activity. This medicine is not an aphrodisiac and neither does it force an erection to occur – instead, men taking the drug are able to become erect when sexual arousal naturally occurs.

Who Can Take Levitra?

Levitra is a prescription medicine available to men over the age of 18 who are suffering from erectile dysfunction or impotence. Levitra has been shown to be particularly effective on older men over the age of 50, or those with underlying medical conditions which may prevent them from taking alternatives such as Viagra.

Who Should Not Take Levitra?

Levitra should not be taken by anybody under the age of 18, anybody who is taking nitrate medications including the recreational drug ‘poppers’, or anybody with a history of heart problems, high or low blood pressure, severely decreased liver or kidney function, those taking HIV medication, or those who have had a stroke in the past six months.

How To Take Levitra

Levitra should be approximately an hour before planned sexual activity, and taken no more than once a day, with doses at least 24 hours apart. You can take the tablet with or without food, although be aware that a heavy meal or alcohol consumption can increase the time taken for Levitra to come into effect.

The effects of taking Levitra will be present for anything up to 5 hours after taking the tablet. This means that, for a 5 hour period, successful men will be able to achieve an erection following sexual arousal.

Levitra Side Effects

The most common side effects of taking Levitra include facial flushing, headaches, cold symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, indigestion, nausea or dizziness. However, since Levitra passes through the body in approximately 5 hours, these side effects should not persist. If they do, please contact your doctor.

In rare cases, taking this treatment can cause an erection to last for more than 4 hours, eventually becoming painful. Additionally, a few men have experienced changes in vision when using the medicine, such as blurred vision or colour changes. If these side effects occur whilst taking Levitra, seek immediate medical attention.
