If left untreated, gonorrhoea can lead to complications of the male reproductive organs including epididymitis, or painful swelling of the testicles. This inflammation of the epididymis can lead to infertility in some cases.

In very rare cases, the gonorrhoea infection can spread to other parts of the body, causing serious infections such as meningitis.
