About Prescription2Home:

Why would I want to obtain Prescriptions Online?

Increasingly the NHS and your local GP are being restricted from prescribing certain treatments and medications. These conditions are typically not life-threatening, but are certainly conditions that can affect your quality of life. These conditions include obesity, hair loss (baldness), new generations of contraceptive pill, impotence or erectile dysfunction, amongst several others. The NHS budget squeezes has meant that treatment for these conditions is no longer freely available on the NHS.

Prescription2Home offers a fully regulated and accredited service to provide private treatment and medication for these conditions. The service is a safe, reliable and convenient way to obtain prescription treatments. Products can be ordered – subject to a simple online review process by a registered Doctor – from the privacy of your own home. Products are delivered promptly in safe packaging, direct to your preferred address.

What is the idea behind Prescription2Home?

One of the founders is a GP, and had seen first-hand the impact of restricted NHS budgets on services to patients. In many cases, patients were being turned down for treatment on the NHS because the range of conditions and treatments covered under NHS budgets was being restricted. So, patient decisions were being made based on budget, not on patient need. This led to potentially difficult discussions with some patients where the GP had to explain that treatments that had been available on the NHS in the past were now unavailable. It became apparent that some people suffering from “quality of life” conditions felt that their enjoyment of life was being severely impaired. They were prepared to look at other sources for treatment – as long as they felt the source was medically competent and trustworthy.

Prescription2Home was created to provide a reliable and accredited service to patients – run by experienced and qualified Doctors, delivering an easy and convenient solution.

Why can I Trust Prescription2Home?

Prescription2Home is one of very few organisations approved by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to deliver healthcare online in the UK.

We only prescribe approved and licensed products from a UK Regulated Pharmacy. We have a working agreement with Pharmacy2U (a UK pharmacy regulated and monitored by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) and a member of the National Pharmacy Association (NPS)).

In addition we only work with qualified UK doctors, registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), and with many years of practical experience of family General Practice.

UK healthcare services are subject to guidelines from the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency). The MHRA is the Government Agency with responsibility for healthcare standards of safety, quality and performance.

How do I know your Doctors are qualified and registered?

In the UK, Doctors prescribe and Pharmacists dispense… and there is a legal separation between the two.

Only formally registered and qualified doctors are allowed to write prescriptions in the UK, and UK Registered Pharmacies are only allowed to accept prescription requests from registered doctors. When our doctors’ prescriptions are processed by our Pharmacy, the doctor’s approved and validated signature is required by the Pharmacy before medicines can be despatched to patients.

If our doctors were not registered, they would not be able to write prescriptions. This process is regulated by the CQC and also monitored by the Pharmacy itself.

How can I be sure my Personal Details will be kept Private?

The highest levels of security are used on the site. Only approved individuals and organisations have access to patient information. This typically means the prescribing Doctor, the Pharmacist preparing the prescription, and the payment card processing service.Patient data is stored as encrypted data. This means that it remains secure even if people had direct access to our servers (they don’t!).We promise never to provide your details to anyone else, unless specifically requested to do so by yourself. For more information on privacy and security, please see our Privacy Notice and our Security Statement.

Should I tell my own GP about Medicines from Prescription2Home?

Patients have the option to inform their own GP of any treatment prescribed through our service. Our default position is that your personal data is NOT passed to anyone. However, when you check out with your orders, you will be asked whether you want us to send your prescriptions details to your GP. If you select this option you will also be asked to provide contact details for your GP, and we will arrange to communicate your prescription details directly. Our Doctors suggest that you should always advise your own GP of any medication you are taking. This ensures your GP has a complete and current view of your medical history. However, there is absolutely no obligation for you to do so, and we will not share your information with your GP unless you expressly request it.

How can I spot untrustworthy online pharmacies?

All healthcare services based in the UK are subject to rigorous monitoring and regulation. However, the nature of the internet is such that companies based offshore can sell into the UK without any of the regulations, restrictions or controls that UK services are obliged to meet.

When considering obtaining prescriptions from a web-based provider, check first to make sure that the company has a legitimate UK address.

You may also wish to check that the company is registered with the Care Quality Commission. This is a mark of professionalism and healthcare delivery safety and capability. A CQC accreditation can take months, or evebn years, to be awarded and is the result of intense scrutiny and approval

Do I need to be a Certain Age to order?

Yes. The service is only available to individuals aged 18 or over

Which Countries do you Deliver to?

Through our relationship with Pharmacy2U, deliveries can be made to most countries in the world. There are different delivery times and charges depending on whether the destination address is in the UK, mainland europe, or somewhere in the rest of the world

When you progress through the checkut process you will be asked to select your preferred delivery method. It is not possible to deliver to the US or Canada, due to restrictions by the US FDA for imported prescriptions

What if I have Questions about my Medication?

If you have any queries about your medication, or suitability for medication, you should contact our doctors by clicking on the “Ask a Doctor” button (on almost every page) and leaving a clear and simple message. A qualified doctor will normally respond within 1 hour during working hours.

If you have experienced adverse side effects after taking your medication, you should stop taking the medication immediately. You should then let our doctor know (as above at any time, or by calling us on the office number during working hours). We also recommend that you advise your own GP of the adverse reaction as soon as possible.

About Medicines:

How do I know all your medicines are Licensed or Approved?

All of our medications are supplied by our partner Pharmacy – Pharmacy2U. Pharmacy2U only store and supply those medications that are licensed in the UK, or medicines that have been licensed in other European countries.Medicines dispensed by Pharmacy2U are sourced directly from the original manufacturer or registered intermediaries, and are within shelf life.

How do I know if Treatments will work for Me?

If you have used particular prescribed medications before, you will know how effective the chosen medications are for you personally.

If this is the first time that you are requesting prescription medication for your condition, please review the information about each product, and please do leave a message for our doctors or customer service team if you need help. After selecting a product, you should answer the short series of health-related questions honestly.

Our doctors will advise if there is any reason why the medication may not be right for you. Our range of prescription medicines have been taken by millions of people over many years, and the success rate and effectiveness of all of the medications we provide is extremely high.

You can check expected responses to taking the medication on each of the product pages. Each product page has a section explaining dosages, expected timings of responses, and potential effects that you should be aware of.

In many cases you can also review the original manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet on each medicine’s product pages In addition, with some conditions (such as Erectile Dysfunction) there are several treatment options, and we provide a trial pack of the different treatments to see which treatments work best for you.

What do I do if I experience adverse side effects?

If you experience adverse side effects you should cease the treatment immediately, contact our doctor through the web site, and contact your own GP

About Online Prescriptions:

Is it legal to supply prescriptions online?

Yes – as long as the prescriptions are written and signed off by a registered doctor, and dispensed by a Registered pharmacist working with a Registered Pharmacy.Any doctor writing prescriptions will need to be assured that the medicines are right and appropriate for patients. Prescription2Homemanages this through a health-related questionnaire for each prescription product requested.

What is the process for requesting prescriptions online?

Many people believe that prescriptions can only be provided following a face to face consultation with a GP. This is not the case. The Care Quality Commission accredits certain providers to offer private prescriptions without a physical consultation (either by phone or online). Approval is based on the effectiveness of the process, and the extent to which patient safety is protected.

From the Prescription2Homesite you can select the condition for which you are seeking treatment. For each condition, helpful information explains more about that condition, and the range of possible treatments. You can select the treatment that you require. In order for our doctors to assure themselves that the treatment is safe and appropriate, you will be asked to provide answers to a short series of health-related questions. Our doctors will review your responses and make a decision on prescription approval. THis process is designed to replicate the face-to-face consultation that a patient will have with their GP. The process is designed to protect you and ensure that you are being prescribed treatment that is safe and effective for you.

If the doctor feels that he/she needs more detailed information they will contact you directly (through whichever channel you requested) for more information.

Once the prescription has been approved, payment for the prescription is taken, and dispensing and delivery is arranged through Pharmacy2U, and your package delivered directly to your preferred address.

What are the benefits of online prescriptions?

A rapidly increasing number of people are purchasing prescriptions online – for a number of good reasons:

  • It’s easier – you don’t need to take time out to visit a doctor, and you can avoid all the associated hassles of getting there, parking and ensuring child or family cover
  • It’s quicker – you can place prescription requests within minutes
  • It’s more convenient – As long as you have an internet connection, you can access Prescription2Home at any time of day or night from wherever is most convenient for you
  • It’s more private – you can order prescriptions from the privacy of your own home, rather than having to wait at a surgery/clinic

Many of the medical conditions dealt with by Prescription2Home are either unavailable or rationed by the NHS. There has recently been a greater volume of press and media coverage on treatments and medicines that are now no longer being provided as part of the NHS service – due to NHS budgets being squeezed. The conditions that are now less available include weight loss, hair loss, and erectile dysfunction… amongst several others.

Many of these conditions are not life-threatening, but can definitely impact quality of life. These products are far less available on the NHS, and Prescription2Home provides a way to obtain these products that is safe, convenient, reliable, and discrete.

What if my prescription request is not approved by the doctor?

In order for our doctors to assure themselves that the treatment is safe and appropriate for you, you will be asked to provide health-related answers to a series of relevant questions. These are designed to be easy to complete, but do not take any short cuts with your saftey.

Based on your responses, our doctors make a decision on prescription approval. This process is designed to protect you and ensure that you are not being prescribed treatment that is potentially harmful to you.If the doctor feels that he/she needs more detailed information to make the best decision, they will contact you directly (through whichever channel you have requested) to request supplementary relevant information.

If after providing additional information, the doctor still decides not to approve, then you will be informed of this decision, and your credit card will not be charged. You will not be charged for any refused requests.

Please remember that the only reason a doctor will refuse a request is if the treatment is unsafe, or inappropriate for you. The doctors’ decisions are there to protect your safety. If a doctor rejects your request for a prescription, it will be because it is unlikely to be in your best interests to take this medication.

How is Prescription2Home regulated?

All healthcare organisations in the UK are regulated and monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Pharmacy2U is regulated and monitored by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) and is a member of the National Pharmacy Association (NPS). All of our doctors are GMC Registered and UK trained and qualified. They also hold many years of experience in General Practice. As a medical provider we take both security and privacy very seriously. Please see our Privacy Notice and Security Statement for more information about our approach to these important subjects.

How do customers rate Prescription2Home?

We are passionate about offering the very best service we can. To assess how well we deliver on our customers’ expectations, we give every single customer the opportunity to provide us with simple feedback on our service. The anonymous feedback is completely optional, and takes less than a few seconds to complete. We ask how well we did on that order, and we also ask the customer to highlight (if they want to) one thing that they would have liked to see us doing better. We have deliberately made this process anonymous, and as quick and easy as possible – to maximise the amount of helpful feedback we receive daily. When we receive suggestions for improvement we formally review our processes to look at ways we can make them better. The feedback scores are updated daily and shown on the site. The intention is to provide visitors to the site with added confidence in the service – based on actual customer feedback rather than formal accreditation

How do I know which online prescription services to trust?

Online pharmacies fall into a wide range of accreditation levels. The key accreditations that you should check to assess the trustworthiness of sites are:

  • Care Quality Commission (CQC) Approval – This is the UK Government Body that regulates healthcare in the UK, covering all medical and health providers from the largest acute hospitals to local clinics. Not all online medical services have been awarded accreditation from the CQC, so check for this quality assurance on sites you visit
  • Regulated Pharmacy – Check the registration number of the pharmacy on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RSPGB) web site to ensure that your products are dispensed from an accredited UK Pharmacy
  • Registered Doctors – The qualifications and registrations of the doctors providing advice. In the UK the central medical body regulating doctors is the General Medical Council (GMC). In the UK, prescriptions can only be written by registered and qualified doctors
  • Fully Approved Medicines – branded medicines from known manufacturers, sourced through a registered Pharmacy
  • Security – Check the security statements and privacy policies of providers. Ensure that personal information is not sold on, that personal data is encrypted, and that suitable registrations are in place for data monitoring and management
